Since its foundation in 1954 by Mr. Pamphile Tardif, under the name of JLP Tardif assurance inc., our company has never ceased to strive to improve our primary goal; Service our customers in such a was as to satisfy and exceed their expectations.
Back then, Pamphile Tardif had two professions: he was director of the Valin home in Adstock and an insurance broker, managing premiums of approximately $80,000.
In 1972, J. Maurice Tardif, Pamphile’s brother, bought the offices of JLP Tardif assurance inc., and became sole owner. The company was renamed J. Maurice Tardif inc.
Then, in 1976, Robert Champagne joined the company and opened a branch office in Thetford Mines.
By 1978, the volume of premiums under management had reached $345,000, but this was insufficient for representing all insurance companies. J. Maurice Tardif and Bélanger et fils assurance inc. decided to merge. The new entity was named Bélanger-Tardif and Associates Inc.
In 2000, J. Maurice’s sons, Jean-Pierre and Philippe Tardif, purchased the company with the intention of pursuing the same goal of providing outstanding quality service and adopting a management style focused on growth, both organic and through acquisitions.
Aiming to increase its strength and market position, the company joined the AssurExperts banner that same year and became AssurExperts Groupe Tardif.
Then, in 2005, in order to strengthen its regional position, AssurExperts Groupe Tardif merged with AssurExperts Lauréat Lachance inc., owned by Réal Goudreau.
AssurExperts Groupe Tardif acquired Assurance Scalabrini of Disraeli in 2006, from owners Yvon and Patrice Scalabrini.
One year later (2007), the company changed banner to Assurancia and became Assurancia Groupe Tardif. In this same year, Assurancia Groupe Tardif opened a branch office in La Guadeloupe.
In 2008, the company acquired Assurance Thibault & Gingues of Sherbrooke, from owners France Laflèche and Claude Gingues.
In 2012, the company made two more acquisitions: Assurancia Estrie, of Sherbrooke, and Assurancia Groupe Laurence, of Saint-Hyacinthe.
A new acquisition was made in 2016 of Assurancia Groupe Dupont, of Saint-Apollinaire.
The year 2017, saw the acquisition of ActiPrima Assurances and Services financiers of Saint-Georges de Beauce.
Today, Assurancia Tardif Group has 8 branches across Quebec and over 80 employees.
Assurancia Groupe Tardif merged with Charlebois Trépanier, an insurance and risk management company in Gatineau with more than 35 staff.
